Zip Zap Circus is at Artscape Opera House with their circus spectacle, MOYA this weekend. Fresh from a successful tour of France and Switzerland and recently honored with two Naledi Theatre Awards nominations, this captivating show promises an unforgettable fusion of contemporary and traditional circus art, weaving an epic tale inspired by the real-life adventures of Zip Zap, a vibrant South African circus company empowering young people since 1992 through circus.
Zip Zap will take their audiences on a journey packed with wonder and excitement with thrilling new acts, original music, and performances in their revamped edition of MOYA.

Zip Zap Circus is a professional circus group established in Cape Town in 1992. Through the magic of circus arts, Zip Zap inspires young individuals from diverse backgrounds to pursue their dreams, fostering social unity and unlocking untapped potential, contributing significantly to the growth of the iconic “Mother City” and the impact of circus arts in South Africa.

Zip Zap’s upcoming production of MOYA boasts an ensemble of new and existing cast members. Joining the production in this installation is juggler Akho Narwele, Masizakhe Kovi displaying his mastery of contortion, handstand, and acrobatics, and Silumko Ndulula, skillfully impressing in diabolo, dance and group Acro, an acrobatic act which showcases the incredible coordination, strength, and teamwork of multiple performers. These skilled acrobats work together seamlessly, executing a series of gravity-defying movements, flips, and balances including formations and patterns, almost like a human puzzle in the air.

The new cast joins MOYA’s existing cast members, including Bridgette Berning, Jacobus Claassen, Jason Barnard, Luqmaan Benjamin, Matthew Risk, Phelelani Ndakrokra, and Vuyani Lottering, who have already captivated audiences with their incredible talents in previous productions.

MOYA by Zip Zap Circus is running from 3rd – 6th August at The Artscape Opera House in Cape Town. The production will continue in Johannesburg with a limited run at The Teatro at Montecasino from August 31 to September 10, 2023.
