Andrew Mayiga Kaggwa is an Arts and Culture reporter since 2013.
A trained theatre, music and film critic, Kaggwa has covered and offered his service as a
journalist and critic to festivals in Uganda like Bayimba International Festival, Kampala Amakula
International Film Festival, Ngalabi Short Film Festival and Kampala Short Film Festival.
He’s also covered a number of art events like the Africa’s grandest Jazz festival, the
Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the Durban International Film Festival, Sauti Za
Busara in Zanzibar and Kigali Up among others.
A trained critic with the Durban International Film Festival as one of the Talent Press,
Kaggwa is one of the co-founders of the Kampala African Movie Night and founder of
the annual Nteredde Documentary Showcase.
Kaggwa is currently a freelance writer and editor with one of Uganda's biggest
newspapers, Daily Monitor, a panelist on a weekly art news radio show, filmmaker and
podcast host.
