On Monday 7 2019, Silent voices Uganda announced the Theatre Directing Apprenticeship program of 2019. Going to their fourth year now, the Program is a two-month crash course where ten aspiring directors with or without prior directing experience are given extensive hands-on training and are challenged through the process putting on a quality production for the company’s paying audience.

The apprentices are taken through all production stages from creating a directorial concept, working with designers and seeing the text to the stage. First started in 2016 for Ugandans, the program was opened to applicants from the entire continent last year. In 2018, the program had artists from Egypt, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Uganda. You could be next!

Silent Voices Uganda is known for their riveting unapologetic socially conscious productions of Silent Voices, Just You, Me and the Silence, Ga-AD!, and others. At the helm of the company and the Directors’ training is renown award winning director, Adong Lucy Judith whose plays have been produced in commercial and college theatres in the UK, US, Uganda, Zimbabwe and other countries.

The program will take place in Kampala, Uganda between June 3rd to July 31st 2019 and is open to all Africa-Based artists between the age of 25-45.

Deadline for Application is March 7th 2019 at 5:00pm EAT (East Africa Time)

For more information about the program and Application go to Silent Voices Uganda website.
