The Ideal Theatre Troupe is set to present its latest stage production, TiA: The Crossroads, a socially-conscious play written by Ade Joseph and co-directed by Mr. J and Enow Bismack this weekend.
TiA:The Crossroads explores the struggles and aspirations of African youth, set against the backdrop of systemic governance challenges that plague many African societies. Through a unique blend of bio-mechanism—a theatrical technique where actors use their bodies in precise, controlled ways to express emotions and tell stories without relying heavily on words, and physical theatre, the play explores themes of anger, hatred, pain, and frustration, while urging collective action for Africa’s emergence and sustainability.

The directors describe the play as a reflection of the African spirit and a call to proactive engagement. “Through the blend of bio-mechanism and physical theatre, the performance travels from the challenges faced by young people, their aspirations, encouraged by an ineffective system of governance that characterises most of African societies,” they explained.
Founded in 2014, the Ideal Theatre Troupe has been dedicated to reviving Cameroon’s theatre culture, promoting edutainment, and showcasing African heritage. With monthly performances and training programs for actors and technicians, the troupe has established itself as a cornerstone of artistic expression in the Buea-South-West region of Cameroon. Their latest production promises to be such an experience, reinforcing their mission of “edutainment” through powerful storytelling.

The play features a talented cast, including; Andang Marilyne, Buma Clinton, Ebad Carine, Joso Luma Melisa, Ncha Alice, and Ndobe Marion, with choreography by Maiva Mbiage Nkoko and Fornyuy Faithngwe.
Ideal Theatre Troupe’s TiA: The Crossroads, written by Ade Joseph and co-directed by Mr. J and Enow Bismack will be staged on Sunday, 16th March 2025, at the Buea Mountain Hall, Cameroon.
